final use. We are happy for you to sharpen your images but please indicate in the file name that the image is 'sharpened'.
If this annotation is not there we will assume no sharpening has been performed and we will sharpen the image for our
requirements at the time of judging and/or printing.

Local Aboriginal Involvement
The local Aboriginal people are getting involved in this festival.
They have granted us use of part of The Gully area which is an indigenous site next to the Sports and Aquatic Center. The parts of The Gully we will be using include Catalina Lake and the Catalina Racetrack.
There is going to be a guided walk through The Gully area as well as a traditional Cupmurri (earth oven) event with Kangaroo and Emu being cooked underground.
THE GULLY WALK
The Gully is an indigenous site that surrounds the festival venue where a natural spring-fed creek winds through bushland. It was the last remaining settlement for Aboriginal people in the Blue Mountains until in 1957 the residents were made to leave to make way for the Catalina Racetrack. The racetrack has since been closed and The Gully has been declared an Aboriginal Place (the largest in NSW). Artefacts have been found pre-dating European settlement.
Some of the original residents of The Gully are still living in the area and these elders are going to be conducting a tour of this special place during the festival - telling stories of where people lived and how they lived. All donations will go towards bush regeneration in The Gully.
