A very personal documentary of UK climbing master Dave MacLeod as he seeks to take traditional rock climbing to the next level. His goal is the creation of the first E11 [G 36 ish- no grading conversion chart had it listed!] The film follows his personal obsession as he struggles to overcome difficulties, frustration, twenty meter falls, a strained relationship, and injury on this multi year project.

On the 18th May 2001 Jon Muir and his dog, Seraphine, began an odyssey to cross Australia on foot, from Port Augusta in South Australia to Burketown on the North Coast of Queensland. 128 days and 2,500 kilometres later, on the point of starvation and exhaustion, Jon arrived in Burketown, becoming the first person to walk solo and unassisted across the most barren country on earth.

Many of Australia’s top adventurers have described this walk as one of the greatest achievements of human endeavour in the history of Australia. Voted as one of the "20 Best Adventure DVD's of All time" Men's Journal Magazine. (Shown with Speaker Jon Muir)

Winter climbing on the highest peaks of the Himalayas is extremely challenging. Only half of the 8000 metre peaks have been climbed in winter. On January 14th 2005 a Polish-Italian team reached the summit of Shishapangma (8013 meters). This film is a rare insight into the severe conditions of a Himalaya winter expedition and the toll it takes on the body and soul.

The Australian Climbing Festival is presenting the Oz Mountain Film Fest, a two-day event of non-stop films celebrating life and adventure in the mountains.


AIMS OF THE 'OZ MOUNTAIN FILM FEST'
To showcase some of the best climbing, adventure and mountain films
To support Australian and New Zealand adventure film makers
To inspire Australian climbers and adventurers.
To give adventure film makers an opportunity to have their films presented on a big screen with high quality AV equipment.


THEME
'Climbing' OR 'Mountain'(This can incorporate any adventure sport or subject matter that fits these themes, subject to the discretion of event organizers.)


CATEGORIES
There are four categories:
1. Best Short Film (15mins or less)
2. Best Film on Climbing
3. Best NZ or Australian Made Film
4. Best Film on Mountain Culture or Environment


PRIZES
Paddy Pallin have generously offered prizes of $200 - (in product) for each of the four categories plus an extra prize for the People's Choice Award (to be judged by festival goers over the course of the weekend.) Total prize pool = $1,000-
