What is Beta International Climbing Festival?
Launching in 2021 (after a false-start due to COVID in 2020), the Beta International Climbing Festival aims to unite climbers from near and far with epic tales, workshops, imagery, competitions, education, giveaways, gear sales & plenty of inspiration to stoke the psych!
Help make this event an annual 'must do' event on climbers calendars by supporting us and making year one memorable (and bring your family and friends).
There has been nothing like this in Australia before - this is not a remake of Escalade 4.0, but rather a completely new and exciting concept. Think of the festival as a hybrid between Royal Easter Shows and Music Festivals-but specifically for climbers and outdoor enthusiasts!
The festival will have guest speakers from all over Australia sharing tales of adventure and inspiration both home and abroad. There will be so much content, that guests won't be able to see everything. Spoilt for choice you will have to pick between any of the 3 stages that are operating simultaneously with speakers and workshops. There will be community areas to talk to people representing such groups as CragCare, Wine and Climb, Queer Climbers, Climbers Against Cancer, Climbing Clubs, Caving and Canyoning Clubs etc.
The 2021 Festival will be host a family area to ensure the little climbers get to climb, bounce, paint and pat.
Friday night the Beta Short Film Festival will showcase new short films from our climbing community. We are still taking entries and encourage first timers, so its not to late to get your camera/phone out.
All onsite content from the official opening on Friday afternoon to close on Sunday evening will be covered in the entry price including workshops and evening events.
There will be some, add-on workshops and offsite courses, offered in the days leading into and out of the festival (we have committed to the Shoalhaven Community to try and encourage people to extend their stay/revisit to assist with rebuilding of the economy and community post 2020 fires, floods and COVID19.
Of course there will be heaps of gear sales, heaps of psych and heaps of beta!
Please don't hesitate to contact us for further information or involvement.
This is a new event to the community- but it will be an exciting addition! Check out our drop down menus (including 'more') for further information on different aspects of the festival.
Where is Beta International Climbing Festival?
Nowra, in the Shoalhaven region of the NSW South Coast is the spiritual home of modern sport climbing in Australia. With the amazing sea cliffs of Point Perpendicular, quality sport climbing along the Shoalhaven River, bouldering in caves and with the more remote areas of "New Nowra" there is literally something for everyone wanting to get on rock from quality low grade climbing to grade 34.
We are stoked to be partnering with the amazing Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre as the venue the first year of the Beta International Climbing Festival. There will be big screens, stages, food, bar, gear expo, children’s entertainment and many more exciting goodies!
You might not want to leave the festival to get on rock for this weekend, but if you do, there are crags less than 5 minutes drive away and plentiful accommodation, and cafes nearby!
