After postponement of the 2020 festival due to COVID19, organisers are working hard to ensure delivery of a safe and compliant 2021 festival and contingencies with special attention to any COVID19 local and national restrictions and requirements.
The new location for the event is well suited to assist with this process and ticket numbers will be highly restricted in 2021, so get in early!
What is the Beta International Climbing Festival?
We are a new, unique, action packed Climbing Festival with a focus on inspiring stories, stunning imagery and loads of activities to keep everyone busy and getting psyched on climbing areas and adventure all over the world. We have an incredible line-up of both well-known and lesser known climbers, all with amazing tales to share!

Why are most of the website photos from overseas?
We have designed the event around international flavour, adventure, a little bit of the unknown, and getting inspired. These are just a taste of some of what you will see and hear during the festival. It won’t be exclusively international, as there will be tales from our shores as well.
How will the festival work?
There has been nothing like this in Australia before - this is not a Escalade 4.0, but rather a completely new and exciting concept. Think of the festival as a fancy hybrid between a Conference, Fete and Music Festival, specifically for climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. Action packed days with multiple speakers, workshops and activities running simultaneously, you won’t be able to see it all.
The evenings will be offering ‘main events’ with non-stop action, speakers and entertainment on the main stage.
What about the venue?
The venues are the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre (a well known, modern and accessible event venue for a variety of festivals and functions throughout the year) and the neighbouring Harry Sawkins Park. There will be a mix of use of indoor and outdoor spaces, so dress appropriately for the weather!

U/18’s must be accompanied by an adult for the evening events.
Due to COVID19 capacity restrictions in 2021 children under 5 will also be required to purchase a ticket (heavily discounted)

Why a 3 day festival?
Beta International Climbing Festival wants to excel in content, community and activities to make this the ‘must attend’ event on every climbers calendar. It is also destined to grow!
Starting the event on the Friday afternoon will get you into the region prior to an early start on Saturday morning! We are also working with the Shoalhaven City Council and local tourism operators to encourage ‘extend your stay’ and return visits, to showcase more of the Shoalhaven to climbers and assist with the local economy and community.

- There will be no climbing competition at the first year of the festival
Under 12’s must be accompanied by an adult
Under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult during the evening events
The Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre is a venue is licensed and there will be a bar open during the afternoons and evenings There is no BYO alcohol
Harry Sawkins Park is an alcohol-free zone and alcohol is not permitted at anytime
There will be a café and assortment of international cuisine available throughout the festival, but guests are also permitted to BYO your own picnic for consumption in Harry Sawkins Park (but you will likely get food-envy)
Drinks (including water)
Drinks (including coffee) will be available on site.
Due to licencing requirements, no BYO liquids will be permitted (including water). There will be water refill stations onsite, so please feel free to bring a water bottle and fill it on site!
Cloaking will be available at the event for a gold coin donation to a local community group.
It is also a very short walk to the carpark if you prefer to leave any gear in the car.
Pass-outs will be available during the festival, but due to licencing, not during the evening main events.
If you leave after 600pm, you can’t return until the next day.

Will I have time to climb?
We aim to offer so much content, that you will likely want the weekend off (extend your stay and get some climbing in pre/post festival), though if you are an early-bird, you could get a few pitches in during the morning.
There are evening only tickets available if you do wish to attend only the evening Main Events.
The majority of the festival site will be accessible, but please contact organisers to discuss any specific requirements and we will do everything we can to assist and have a fully inclusive festival
